[00:00:00] Speaker A: Arkansas beat Vanderbilt on Saturday 31 to 21. Broke a 14 game SEC losing streak. Tom, I said it. You and I both picked Vanderbilt and I should have brought one of the brown bags on like on the show today just put over my head because if you look at my predictions from the weekend, they were God awful. I mean I picked Vanderbilt to beat Arkansas. I. And then, you know, there was just upset after upset after upset on Saturday when we, when we do the predictions that run in the newspaper next weekend or I guess the weekend after because Arkansas is on a buy this week like they need. They seem to put the brown sack over my head because the record the last time was really bad. But you know, I said, I've said it for a little while. I said I just cannot in good conscience pick Arkansas on the road until they show that they can win on the road. And they look, you know, I think a lot of it has to do with the opponent. Vanderbilt's not any good this year, but they looked like a lot better, more focused, disciplined team I thought Saturday night than they did in their previous games. You lose to Utah, they're really good. That's a hard place to play. They didn't look good doing it. It was, it was the A and M loss though that really kind of where Arkansas lost. You know, a lot of the confidence that I had in them potentially doing anything because I think A and M's really average.
So to go to Vanderbilt, you know, kind of.
They controlled the second half. I thought like they didn't control the first half, it was tied at halftime, but they controlled the second half. And that was a good positive development, I feel like for this team. Can they take it down the road? I don't know. But on Saturday night at least that was a good, you know, good, good to see from them because they haven't done that on the road this year.
[00:01:39] Speaker B: I was most, I think probably most happy for the kids who've been, you know, maligned and the fans have a lot of angst and anger and they hear that. I mean, you could say I don't get on social media much, but you probably hear it on campus and wherever you go. So I was happy for them. I have a lot of takeaways from this game. I like you thought that there was too many errors they were making in the road games to correct enough of them to win. But what I didn't count on was, and they did make errors in this game. I mean they had the crack back block on Marshall, which he ought to know by now you can't hit the guy and just stand in front of him. All you have to do is stand in front of him instead of lower your shoulder.
But he did. And then they had two guys get penalties after touchdowns, which is just crazy.
I saw the Hunter Osborne one and I'm like, eh, you didn't have to throw that flag.
But I did not see what the Malachi Breland one was all about. But two in your celebration where you have to kick off from the 20 yard line, which in another bigger game could have been just critical mistakes but, but they overcame those and most certainly in the second half they look like the more determined, the more confident team. And to think that they would look like the more confident team, KJ Jackson looked in control.
And what's crazy is that you've lost Marshall now at halftime for we think it's a hamstring.
And so who's going to be your next receiver? Is it going to be C.J. brown, CeCe Hawkins? No. It wounds up being Antonio Jordan who made a tremendous catch down there to the three that set up Cam Settle's second touchdown.
And also on Carson catches one out of the blue.
So I think hopefully Marshall's hamstring is okay in two weeks to play Marshall. But I do believe now you have the opportunity to get an Antonio Jordan more snaps because he just won 50, 50 balls. KJ seemed very comfortable throwing to him. So that's a good, good sign moving forward. Run game very productive.
Vanderbilt's top two running backs, Alexander and Young, average more per carry than Arkansas's guys did. But Arkansas stayed with their run game. They stayed on the field longer. They won time of possession by more than seven minutes.
So basically, and I wrote this in my grades yesterday, it was a really good game plan on both sides of the ball and they executed it the best they have surely in a road game, but maybe of all season, the best execution.

Gonzaga is going to be at Bud Walton arena and we'll have a couple of podcasts that are more geared toward basketball at the back end of the week. So hope that you'll subscribe and catch those podcasts before the race. Backs play Gonzaga here at Bud Walton. That's going to be a big game. By the way. There's I know it doesn't count, but there's going to be a lot of interest, I think, in that game.
Okay, so, and let's start with Antonio Jordan because a lot of people are going to be asking the question where on earth has this guy been?
You watched, you know, the, to the extent that you could see, you know, whatever was open in the preseason.
What did you see from him in the preseason and how does that inform what his playing time has looked like to this point?
[00:05:50] Speaker B: Well, he is behind Kris Marshall at that position and of all the receivers, he's the one who has to play that wide position and can't do the slot. And I don't know if he does the other wide receiver spot. So he's the most limited in terms of what position he can play. But I bet Marshall can play them all. And because of what he did, I think you have to find ways to get them both on the field, possibly at the same time. Two tall guys.
He was too inconsistent in training camp from the live stuff we saw and even just the drill work. Too many drop passes and he's the kind of guy who he'll make a one handed catch going out of bounds on the sideline. You're like, oh wow, great one.
Much like Marshall's against Georgia.
But then he'll just drop. I remember he dropped a tunnel screen that was low but right there and so just too many drops. But that's a huge confidence builder for him.
And like I said, I think you might see some, some sets where he and Marshall might be on the field at the same time if Marshall's able
[00:06:53] Speaker A: to come back in the run game.
Some things that I noticed on Saturday, number one is that it Felt like there was a lot more designed runs for the quarterback for K.J. jackson and he's not a great runner, but I do think he is a capable enough runner to the extent that I don't think he's going to get 20, I don't think he's going to have a 20 yard run every game like he had the other night against Vanderbilt. But I do think he's the type that if you design it for him he can get you three or four yards and if you block up, block it up well for him, he might get you five, 10 or more.
And I think there's a lot of value in that because at least it keeps the defense honest and has to respect the quarterback run element of this offense. And so that stood out to me and the other thing that stood out to me, we talked in the last couple of weeks about why is Braylon Russell not getting more carries? Why is Cam Settles not getting more carries? Well, I don't know if maybe, you know, like, like maybe that was what the coaches figured out. Hey, we need to be doing that too. But you got Braylon Russell with 14, it can settles with 11 on Saturday night and Sutton Smith, his total carries are cut down to four.
But I think that because he's not asked to be in every down back, it looked like he was maybe a little bit more fresh when he carried the ball.
It just seems like maybe they're figuring out their running rotation a little bit more as they go into this bye week.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: It helped them that they stayed on the field longer. They converted third downs and just kept possession and were able to just really work the run game. Now look, Vandy doesn't have the type of talent I'm thinking about. K.J. jackson's eight yard touchdown run.
It looks like he was kind of probing at right tackle and it was a little bottled up and he just went to the edge and there was nobody there.
[00:08:35] Speaker A: They don't have the speed that other SEC defenses have.
[00:08:37] Speaker B: So on a lot of teams, Georgia or some other teams, some corner or safety is right there and he doesn't get much but against Vanderbilt he got the edge. They left it open and he scored an eight yard touchdown and that was one of the primo occurrences for Arkansas in this game when they got it down in the red zone. There weren't were any of these, oh, don't get it in from the two, don't get it in from the one. What are you going to do on fourth down now? They just went in there and scored touchdowns. Settles had the three yarder on the first snap. When they got to the three after the Jordan big catch, 32 yarder and KJ got it in from the eight on the first snap. Once they got to the eight that that's. It can't be enough said about how important that is for an offense in your confidence. We're going to get in the red zone and we're going to score. We're not going to get bottled up and then are we going to pass? We're going to tight formation spread and they just got it done.
[00:09:27] Speaker A: But you began to see that a little bit the week before against Tennessee. I mean they actually converted a couple of times in the red zone with touchdowns and that was felt like that was a positive development that came out of that game. They didn't have a whole lot of chances to do it but you know, maybe they're getting more confident in those situations. And I think, you know you were there last Thursday. Kelsey Musik was at our lunch in the women's basketball coach at Arkansas and we were talking in context of getting a recruit from Arkansas and how that opens the door for other recruits and there's some good recruits in women's basketball and state and you know I think you can and she said you can kind of tie that to winning too. It was like sometimes all you need is just that one that makes guys or makes players confident and believe and I don't, I don't think Arkansas is going to, I don't. They're certainly not going to be favored against any of the five teams that are left. But I do wonder if there is some confidence that comes out of this performance that that maybe makes them pick off somebody down the road.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: Maybe so. And I look Missouri went on the road and lost to Mississippi State early in the year and you know, didn't look very good.
But then they had back to back home games where they crushed Florida and they beat somebody else. But then they go on the road last week and they lose 31 to 3 at Ole Miss to Ole Miss. So they're not playing as well on the road.
[00:10:44] Speaker A: No they're not.
[00:10:44] Speaker B: I suspect Arkansas with two weeks is going to have a good game plan.
[00:10:48] Speaker A: Missouri's going to have two weeks too that Missouri.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: But I think they're going to have a good game plan and they're going to go into that game with confidence. And you know we're talking in the here and now and this is a high point for Arkansas football that they got a road win that they broke the SEC losing streak. But you're right, they're not going to be favored in any of the rest of them. But I think for that next home game they're going to be in position that defensively they have got to do something to slow down Austin Simmons. And you know, Kaden Lee, he got a little bit banged up in the Ole Miss game, but I think he's going to be all right. But that Missouri offense is for real. So they're going to have to, they're going to have to put up a real defensive showing.
[00:11:28] Speaker A: Well, they can run, Missouri can run the ball. And I was, that's what I was most surprised by the other day is how Ole Miss and part of it I think was how the game played out.
[00:11:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:36] Speaker A: You know, because Ole Miss got up by double digits pretty quick. I think it was 14 to 3 before the first quarter was over. And so that changes how Missouri has to play that game offensively. And I don't think they're a team that's really built to have to chase points. They're a team that's built to drive it and sustain drives and run the ball. They got Jamal Roberts and there's talk that Ahmaud Hardy might be back by the Arkansas game.
Like that's the type of offense that they need. And so I feel like Ole Miss took them, you know, out of their offense a little bit. But I was surprised that Ole Miss was able to hold the. And I think this influences that. But I thought that Missouri would just run it on Ole Miss and I thought they would run and run and run and that was really surprising to me from that game going back to Arkansas, Vanderbilt. I'll tell you, on the Vanderbilt side what stood out to me is Jared Curtis, their quarterback. The arm talent is for real. Oh my goodness. I mean he's a five star quarterback. He was committed to Georgia. Shocked everybody when he decommitted, signed with Vanderbilt.
I wonder if they're going to be able to keep him for his entire career because I mean when you've got a quarterback like that, you got to surround him with more playmakers than they have right now. I think Junior Sherrill's a pretty good player, but outside of that I didn't really see a whole lot of, you know, like, like talent at the skill positions for Vanderbilt. But boy, I came away really impressed with with him. He made three or four plays that or throws that you just don't see a lot of college quarterbacks make.
[00:13:04] Speaker B: His throw that 24 yard touchdown to Cheryl, that was as pretty a ball as I've seen all year long. And that's. We heard it coming from the Vanderbilt side. He throws a great deep ball. We heard all the Arkansas coaches saying great deep ball thrower. And that was legit. He also had one down the left sideline to another guy and I can't remember who it was. I could probably find his name just looking right here. I think it was Jacore Thomas. A really nice throw that was deep and now the tight end almost bungled that one. He tipped it and then caught it to himself. But Vinny.
Yeah, but, but. And man, his foot was so close to being out of bounds before he caught it. But, but Curtis, it's the whole true freshman quarterback scenario for him. Great plays like that. But then he stared down Cheryl on that slant and he threw it a little behind him and Joker Johnson was in cloud coverage so he, he can see the quarterback's eyes the whole way and he was right there. And that was a, that was a moment in that game because Arkansas hadn't done a whole lot offensively that kind of flipped the momentum a little bit. And so Joker Johnson's pick six was a big, big deal. And then he was getting sacked and it would have been third and 12 if he hadn't thrown that ill advised underhand shuffle thing he did. But I think of Arkansas teams in the past and even this year where that ball is an inch shorter and Miguel Mitchell can't get his fingertips under it because he barely got his fingertips under that ball, secured it and it held up under review and that was a huge play, maybe the defining play in that game that he held onto that interception. And then Arkansas goes down and turns that into a field goal with the third down conversion to Jamari Hawkins which was a fantastic catch under thrown ball. Defender was hitting him and I would be very curious to know if they'd have thrown the flag if he hadn't caught that ball because the defender was not playing the ball and he bumped into Hawkins.
[00:15:01] Speaker A: I was impressed with Arkansas's ability to keep answering in the game on Saturday because that's something we haven't seen a whole lot of this year. You know, like so Joker Johnson has to pick six. But then Vanderbilt goes down, they score a touchdown right away, long drive, what maybe four or five minutes. And then Arkansas gets the ball right around two minutes left in the half, they go down and score and it's like that felt like a very defining moment in the game. Then they get the ball first in the second half, they go down and they score then and you know, even, even you think about, you know, Vanderbilt ties it. I don't think Arkansas scored on the next possession, but then they get the ball back and then they go down and score. It just felt like there were answers. A lot more answers than we've seen from them in the past.
[00:15:38] Speaker B: Yes, very much so. And I tell you that that's their best two minute drill of the year because they've had it multiple times. I'm thinking about A and M. They get it back with one something left, don't score A and M gets a touchdown. The same thing I believe in one of the other game like Georgia game, they get the ball, don't do anything. Georgia goes and gets a touchdown before the half when you need to run the clock out even if you don't score. So those two drives, last one of the second quarter, opening one of the third quarter opened your eyes to wow, they're in this to win it.
And it was truly a remarkable sign that they had the confidence to go and do that. I was going to make some other point, but now I've forgotten it.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: How do you think Kris Marshall, you know, it's like when you've got a hamstring, it's getting a little colder outside. Like those don't, those don't mix real well.
What do you think is going on with him and what his being back looks like?
[00:16:36] Speaker B: Aren't there grades to hamstring pools and stuff? So we don't know what grade it is. We talked to Ryan Silverfield on Wednesday and hopefully we'll get more information on that.
[00:16:46] Speaker A: I think the best thing for Marshall is the fact that they're not playing this week and he's going to be able to be off of it and you'll just get treatment and we'll see if he's able to play against Missouri.
[00:16:55] Speaker B: But that happened in the first series.
[00:16:57] Speaker A: Anytime you've got hamstring injuries and it's cold like, like that is, that's, it's, it's worrisome.
[00:17:04] Speaker B: And his 28 yard run, I don't know if you happen to see that one, but it was a short pass. He broke tackles and went out of bounds kind of. You could see he was favoring it and that was it for him. But even on his only catch of the game, he made an impact and I think it set up one of their touchdowns. But going back to what I said about Jordan, I think if he does come back, they've got to find ways now to get Jordan on the field, even if it's not. And I know it used to be the exposition. I can't remember if that's what they call it. But they need to find ways to get Marshall, maybe in other spots so Jordan can play that X.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: You got to get both of them on the field because what teams have been doing ever since.
What would it be? The.
I forget which game. But like teams have started to, you know, kind of bracket more toward Marshall. And now if you can get another guy who's showing that he can make plays on the other side of the field, like, or maybe put them on the same side of the field but just a second receiver option out there, that opens up your offense so much.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: I feel like A and M did some of that. But Tennessee was the team that really did it. So it's only been the last couple of weeks because he had a good game against Texas A and M as well. Yeah.
[00:18:14] Speaker A: All right, SEC this weekend, what didn't stand out to you? I mean maybe the better question than what stood out.
[00:18:21] Speaker B: I much like you put a lot of blood on the page on the crossing out in red, our losses because I picked Oklahoma to beat Kentucky.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: I did too.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: Also lost the Auburn, Georgia game and the Texas, Florida game.
[00:18:35] Speaker A: Alabama, Tennessee.
[00:18:36] Speaker B: I lost that one. I did pick Ole Miss to beat
[00:18:39] Speaker A: Missouri, thankfully, because I picked Missouri.
[00:18:41] Speaker B: Oh my gosh.
[00:18:42] Speaker A: I picked Missouri.
[00:18:43] Speaker B: You might have gone one for.
[00:18:44] Speaker A: I did. I did pick lsu.
[00:18:46] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:18:46] Speaker A: I picked A and M to beat the Citadel. So thank God for that twofer.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: But all the tuck, close game. Look, I wrote about this the next day. All of the first year coaches won road games and they were, they were upsets. I'm not sure what the line on Kentucky, Oklahoma was.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: Oh, you was favored by about six.
[00:19:03] Speaker B: Okay, so that's an upset. Clearly Auburn over Georgia. Auburn coming off an open week and Georgia coming down. I think, I think the highs that Georgia and Alabama had to hit the week before and Texas and Oklahoma hit the week before. Danny Sheridan, the longtime odds maker down in Mobile had a saying that you have to get up for a select amount of games per year. You can kind of roll your talent out there and win some games if you're really good and Georgia is. But they couldn't roll their talent and they had their. Stockton, I want to say fumbled a couple of times through a couple of pick. They just made errors that helped Auburn win. So I think it's a clear factor that the teams coming off huge rivalry games weren't as mentally fit to hold on to their Next win, Texas is 14 nothing. They looked, you know, I know one of them was a punt return, but they look like, oh, my gosh, Florida, they've struggled lately. This is going to be a blowout. And then it just turned on a dime.
[00:20:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, you. Kentucky was kind of a similar deal. I mean, oh, you was beating Kentucky 13 to 7, maybe late third quarter, early fourth quarters when Kentucky took the lead.
I think Alabama, Georgia was really the one that. It felt like the highs and maybe lows for Alabama of that week previous played a factor in their next game because Alabama just looked flat as could be. I mean, turnover. I think their first three possessions were turnover, punt turnover, and. But still Tennessee, they can't cash in with touchdowns. It's only nine to nothing. And it felt like, okay, Alabama's gotten this out of their system. They're going to be able to come back and they're going to be able to win this game because Tennessee's just not capitalized enough. And that was an impressive performance by Tennessee's defense. I was impressed with Tennessee defensively before they came here, really impressed with them after they left here, and certainly impressed with what they did against Keelan Russell.
[00:20:53] Speaker B: That was outstanding. And they were playing field position against Alabama in the very beginning. I think the turnover, they just held the ball down in Alabama territory and only got nine. And then I was feeling a lot more confident about my pick because I think they made it nine to seven. I'm like, okay, Alabama will come back and win. But Tennessee's defense, I think they picked it up a notch from how they played against Arkansas to what they did against Bama. They were super, super prepared and they caught a team on the rebound from a tough loss in a rivalry game, and they clearly took advantage.
[00:21:26] Speaker A: They're paying premium dollar for Jim Knowles, who I think is the best defensive coordinator right now in college football.
I've really thought that for probably about the last five or six years.
21. He had an outstanding defense at Oklahoma State. That's when his star really began to rise. Obviously went to Ohio State, Penn State, now Tennessee, like, you kind of get what you pay for right there. You know, I mean, sometimes you pay for a defense coordinator and offensive coordinator and they're just not what they used to be. We saw that here when John Chavis was at Arkansas.
But the. I think the warning signs with Chavis had been there with what he had done at A and M or what they hadn't done at A and M. Knowles very clearly still is on top of his game. Tennessee stinks offensively, but they might win 10 or 11 games in the regular season because they've got an elite defense right now.
[00:22:12] Speaker B: I was just going to say if they had a veteran quarterback, they would be because I like the Sean Bishop now they've had injuries on their offensive line. I think that's really impacting them and has led to some of the pressure that even Arkansas got against McIntyre. So there's going to come a game where like they got really high this week and I'm not sure who they're playing next, but be on the lookout for them next week. Unless they're playing ut, Chattanooga or somebody for them.
[00:22:39] Speaker A: I think they've already played those teams.
[00:22:40] Speaker B: Okay for them to have a little bit of a letdown as well, but I'm with you, man. I think Hypo made a superb off season decision to let his D coordinator go and get Knowles.
[00:22:50] Speaker A: They play at South Carolina this week.
Bye week of a bye week. South Carolina, they've been really good late in the year under Beamer. Like they get better as the year goes on. South Carolina's actually favored to win that game and I wonder if there's some of that thought that's going into that.
[00:23:04] Speaker B: Oh, wow.
[00:23:05] Speaker A: Yeah, they're a two and a half point favorite right now.
[00:23:06] Speaker B: Are we going to make picks anyway?
[00:23:08] Speaker A: No.
[00:23:08] Speaker B: With Arkansas? No, that'd be.
[00:23:10] Speaker A: You want to.
[00:23:10] Speaker B: That'd be a hard.
[00:23:11] Speaker A: We can take this however you want to go here.
[00:23:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: Here's the SEC schedule this week, by the way. LSU goes to Auburn, Tennessee's at South Carolina. A and M goes to Alabama. Oh, use at Mississippi State, both of those teams, if Camario Taylor can play. You got to love Mississippi State's chances there if he's healthy.
Because ou, I mean, Mike, I cannot figure out OU for the life of me how they are so bad offensively. Remember John Mateer last year? We were talking about him as a potential Heisman player for the first month of the season because of how he was playing.
And it just seems like, I mean, it has really gone off the rails with him.
And then I think. I think that's their problem. That's their problem. They don't have a great run game and they don't have a quarterback who can, you know, move the ball through the air very well.
[00:23:56] Speaker B: Which makes you wonder how in the world they beat Texas. But I really think Texas, they did
[00:23:59] Speaker A: it with two non offensive touchdowns. They're like Tennessee, they've got the elite defense.
They just, they can't move the ball. I Mean, Tennessee at least has the run game. Oh, you can't move the ball hardly at all.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: This is a year where you look through like, okay, who would you rather Arkansas to be playing and not to be playing and like Mississippi State? No, not this year. Don't want to be playing them this year. With Camario healthy, Oklahoma. Maybe this is a year you'd rather be playing. Oklahoma. I don't know.
[00:24:26] Speaker A: Ole Miss goes to Texas this weekend.
Which quarterback would you take in that game?
[00:24:31] Speaker B: Oh, wow.
[00:24:33] Speaker A: Trinidad.
[00:24:33] Speaker B: I would take Trinidad.
[00:24:34] Speaker A: Trinidad. I don't even think it's close.
Manning just.
I don't know if it's. I don't know if it's him. I don't know if it's the coaching. Maybe he was just overrated coming out of high school.
He just has not come close to living up to the expectations that were there for him.
[00:24:48] Speaker B: I don't remember who it was on the broadcast, but the color analyst for that game, Texas, Florida, was pointing out, look, this out route is open. Throw it. That's the guy who's open.
Maybe he breaks a tackle and gets more yardage, but throw that ball. Don't hold onto it. Because Arch was getting more pressure. He was getting sacked when he wasn't taking the throws that were available to him. And he's been doing this long enough that a guy of his caliber needs to be doing that more. I mean, K.J. jackson's doing that more than he did earlier in the season.
[00:25:21] Speaker A: I heard somebody say, if his name was Arch Smith, would he still be at Texas?
[00:25:27] Speaker B: He wouldn't be getting.
[00:25:27] Speaker A: That's a good question.
[00:25:28] Speaker B: He would not be getting the same Chambers.
[00:25:30] Speaker A: I think Chambles is the best quarterback in the country.
I really do. I mean, like, I know that. I think he's a little small, which is, I think, is what holds him back from a draft perspective. But we've seen small quarterbacks, Drew Brees and others, you know, have success in the NFL.
I watched some of his throws, Tom, and his ability to lead a receiver to a certain spot and put it right on the money, I think is outstanding, and I think it's really underrated. Element of his game really is.
[00:25:56] Speaker B: And I'll go back to last year, that week that Arkansas was going to play them and Lane Kiffin was playing all those games with his availability report, and I'm like, if this. If this guy from Ferris State plays and he's 6ft tall, Arkansas will have a chance. Well, it turns out they had a great chance to win the game. But Chambliss that was his coming out part.
[00:26:16] Speaker A: Yeah, they were really good offensively.
[00:26:17] Speaker B: He's not slowed down since then. And his, his performance in the College Football playoff games last year, particularly Georgia was phenomenal and he's kept it up this year.
[00:26:26] Speaker A: One more Vandy. Kentucky this weekend.
Kentucky's a big favorite in that one as you might imagine.
[00:26:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:32] Speaker A: Who do you think is the best team in the sec?
[00:26:34] Speaker B: I still think it's Georgia.
[00:26:35] Speaker A: I do too.
[00:26:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
Again, Auburn caught them in a beautiful time coming off a bye week and I don't see them making the same kind of mistakes. I mean, Gunner Stockton had one fumble because he ran into his own lineman, which. Did that happen? That might have happened in the Arkansas.
[00:26:51] Speaker A: That set up.
Did it happen in the Arkansas game?
[00:26:54] Speaker B: It happened in another game that I cared about.
[00:26:56] Speaker A: That set up the Auburn game winning field goal, I think, didn't it?
[00:26:59] Speaker B: I believe so. And he also just, he had some throws that were ill advised and off target that got picked off and you just don't see Gunner Stockton not perform like that in all the games we've been watching them. So it's a wake up call. I think that defensively they'll get better, but they had, they really struggled to slow Byron Brown down in the quarterback
[00:27:20] Speaker A: run game and nobody's struggled to slow him to this point in the season. Hey, here's just a few quick hitters before we get out of here. Just think about if I would have told you this seven weeks ago.
Going into this weekend, Georgia and Kentucky are tied for the SEC lead. Think about that.
That's wild. Followed by Tennessee and Ole Miss. All of those teams have one loss and then these are all the teams with one win right now, tomorrow Arkansas is tied with these teams for the same number of SEC wins. Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A and M, South Carolina. Yeah, I understand Arkansas beat Vanderbilt, but that's, that's crazy to me too.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: It's pretty stunning. And the teams with two losses, I don't know, I think, I think one of these might make the playoff. I don't know who. Maybe LSU has the best odds of all of them, but there's some Bama's.
[00:28:11] Speaker A: Bama's losses are the best. I think if they were to win out and they're 10 and two, I think it would. They would have a pretty good chance of getting in.
[00:28:18] Speaker B: I kept Georgia at number three in my AP poll and I got some emails from people going, what are you doing? I mean you dropped Texas this far after they lost, but you only dropped Georgia this far, I just still just feel like they're still the best team and they're going to recuperate or recover from that and get better.
[00:28:34] Speaker A: I think a lot of it is just eye test. I mean, right? I mean Texas, Texas clearly looks like something's off there. Georgia looks like something was off Saturday.
Texas looks like something is off a lot of days.
And you know that. That's the difference to me. I mean, I think Georgia is, I think that if you just, if you, if you line Georgia up against everybody in the SEC and you said, hey, you're going to play best of five, Georgia is the team that you would say is going to reliably win the most of those.
[00:29:01] Speaker B: I think so. And it also begs the question, how did Ohio State blow a 20 point lead. Yeah. Late in the third quarter maybe even.
[00:29:08] Speaker A: I don't know that Ohio State's that good either. I mean I thought they would, I thought they would kind of mop the field with Indiana to be honest. And I was surprised that that game got down to the point that it did.
[00:29:17] Speaker B: Indiana just does a lot of stuff that's intangible because they have Kirk Signetti, Google him. But he has Indiana believing and doing things because I agree with you. Ohio State clearly had the more talent but was saying out and not that he's that good of a. He had a clear touchdown throw that he just got wrong footed and saw pressure coming in his face and threw a low ball to a wide open tight end in the end zone. They wound up getting a touchdown out of that I think on fourth down. But you see these teams and they're just college age kids making mistakes and you saw that in Ohio State, Indiana and a lot of these SEC games as well.
[00:29:58] Speaker A: Yeah, sec. What a weird year it is in the SEC right now.
Arkansas again. Arkansas is tied with Texas ou, Texas A and M and South Carolina for the same number of SEC wins going into the second to last week of October. I don't think anybody would have believed that going into the season.
